Marlene’s PhD entitled ‘Poetry and Grace’ explored poetry as prayer in the context of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius. In that research Marlene found poetry writing and reflection on that writing had the capacity to access deeper levels of personal awareness.

Marlene’s poetry was first published in The Age. Since then, she has been published in various anthologies, and print and online journals. She has published three collections of poetry in the Grace Undone series and Grace upon Grace, a contemporary version of the Spiritual Exercises.

Marlene is co-director at Kardia Formation: strengthening spirit, enabling potential in Melbourne, Australia.  In her spiritual direction and formation work, Marlene companions people from the perspective that life is an invitation to authenticity, interior freedom, and loving service.
